Judith Elizabeth Avalos Flores, originaria de Santiago Ixcuintla Nayarit, radicando actualmente en Puerto Vallarta Jalisco. Egresada de la Universidad de Especialidades UNE como Licenciada en Ciencias de la Educación. Previo a mi educación universitaria me titulé como Técnica en puericultura donde surgió mi pasión por la formación de los pequeños. He trabajado previamente como asistente educativa en niveles maternales y de preescolar en diferentes instituciones. Mi pasión son las actividades artísticas. Me gusta trabajar con alumnos de edades pequeñas porque me gusta establecer ambientes de confianza donde ellos se sientan seguros y comprendidos.

Prior to my university education, I earned a degree in Childcare, where my passion for raising children arose. I have previously worked as an educational assistant in preschool and kindergarten settings at various institutions. My passion is artistic activities. I enjoy working with young students because I like to create a trusting environment where they feel safe and understood.

Mi nombre es Laura Mendoza, originaria de Tepic, Nayarit. He tenido la oportunidad de enseñar en distintos contextos del estado, incluyendo San Ignacio, Chula Vista y Fortuna de Vallejo, además de haber trabajado 12 años en Costa Verde, donde hoy tengo el gusto de regresar. También laboré en Puerto Vallarta, en el Jardín de Niños de la colonia Coapinole, experiencia que me dejó grandes aprendizajes. Soy egresada del Colegio Juana de Asbaje en Puerto Vallarta, y cuento con una Maestría en Gestión de Procesos Educativos y un Doctorado en Gestión Educativa por CIEN Nayarit. Disfruto enseñar desde el corazón y conocer a cada alumno. Creo firmemente que la educación es un proceso que se construye en equipo entre docentes, escuela y familias, y que cada día brinda una nueva oportunidad para aprender y crecer juntos.

My name is Laura Mendoza, and I am originally from Tepic, Nayarit. I have had the opportunity to teach in different communities across the state, including San Ignacio, Chula Vista, and Fortuna de Vallejo, as well as 12 years here at Costa Verde, where I am happy to return. I also worked in Puerto Vallarta, at a kindergarten in the Coapinole neighborhood, an experience that brought me many valuable lessons. I graduated from Colegio Juana de Asbaje in Puerto Vallarta and hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Process Management and a Doctorate in Educational Management from CIEN Nayarit. I love teaching from the heart and getting to know each of my students. I believe that education is a team effort between teachers, school, and families, and that each day offers a new opportunity to learn and grow together.

Originally from Puerto Vallarta, Jal, where I grew up and finished my studies until high school at the American School. Passionate about life and my work. After two trial and error careers, which I have to admit that I did not manage to finish, I discovered that what I was passionate about was being able to be part of the formation of growing little lives and it was so then that I changed residence and went to study. to Guadalajara in UNICO, graduating as a teacher of Initial Education.

 During the time I studied, I had the opportunity to work and do my internship at the same time in places like Gymboree and CENDI (Center for Infant Development), becoming more and more convinced that it was my vocation. I returned to Vallarta where I continued to work learning, taking on new challenges and pushing myself to want to be able to give more of myself and improve by growing professionally as well as personally. Currently I work at CVIS which for me is a joy and it fills me with happiness to have had the opportunity to meet and know that iyou can find what can be assembled as a little puzzle in your life at a professional level that will fill you so much. I enjoy the weather, the air, the water I love being able to be a world trot from time to time and I could say that I am like transparent water, very sensitive, changeable, I am very emotional and I think the only thing I am still learning is to flow more like the same.

Originaria de Puerto Vallarta,Jal, en donde me crié y terminé mis estudios hasta la prepa en el Colegio Americano. Apasionada por la vida  y por mi trabajo. Después de  dos carreras a prueba y error , que tengo que admitir que no logre terminar descubrí que lo que me apasionaba era  el poder ser parte de la formación de las vidas pequeñitas en crecimiento y fue asi que entonces cambie  de residencia y me fuí a estudiar a Guadalajara en UNICO, graduando como maestra de Educacion Inicial.

 Durante el tiempo que estudie tuve la oportunidad de trabajar y hacer mis prácticas al mismo tiempo en lugares como Gymboree  y el CENDI(Centro de Desarrollo Infanti) quedando cada dia mas convencida que era mi vocación. Regrese a Vallarta en donde segui ejerciendo aprendiendo, tomando nuevos retos y empujándome a querer poder dar mas de mi misma y mejorar creciendo en el aspecto profesional al igual que personal. Actualmente trabajo en CVIS lo cual para mi es una dicha y me llena de felicidad haber tenido la oportunidad de conocer y saber que si se puede encontrar aquello que pueda ensamblar como una piecesita de rompecabezas en tu vida a nivel profesional que tanto te llene. Disfruto el tiempo , el aire, el agua me encanta poder ser una trota mundos de vez en cuando y podría decir que soy como el agua trasparente, muy sensible ,cambiante , soy muy emocional y creo que lo único que aun sigo aprendiendo es a fluir mas como la misma.

Me llamo Dana Julieta Cortez Peña, tengo 20 años, soy originaria de Sayulita y me gradué de Ciencias de la Educación del Instituto de las Américas de Nayarit (ILAN). Comencé a colaborar en Costa Verde hace dos años mientras realizaba prácticas y observaciones en el aula. Este año me uniré al equipo como profesora de inglés para niños de kínder y segundo grado. Soy ex-alumna de CVIS. Estudié aquí la primaria y la secundaria. Paso mi tiempo paseando por Sayulita, con mis amigos o visitando nuevos pueblos. Me encanta la música, la pintura y siempre me gusta aprender cosas nuevas.

My name is Dana Julieta Cortez Peña, I am 20 years old, I am originally from Sayulita, I am a graduate from the Institute of the Americas of Nayarit ILAN in Education Sciences. I started collaborating in Costa Verde two years a go while I was doing classroom practices and observations. This year I’ll be joining the team as English teacher for K1 and K2 graders I am a CVIS former student. I studied here in Elementary and Middle school. I spend my time walking around Sayulita, with my friends or visiting new towns. I love music, painting, and I always like to be learning new things 

Marijose Ramos Lozano
1st and 2nd grade SPANISH

Marijose Ramos Lozano initially started at CVIS in 2016/17 as a substitute teacher. She was immediately identified as a caring and skilled educator. Coming from the local community, Marijose has a strong understanding of the specific and special culture of Sayulita. She brings this multicultural and multilingual understanding to the classroom. Marijose received teacher training and licensure from Vizcaya University in Puerto Vallarta.As well as a Diploma in Educational Innovation and a Master's Degree in Didactic Training

Marijose Ramos Lozano comenzó inicialmente en CVIS en 2016/17 como maestra sustituta. Fue inmediatamente identificada como un educador educado y atento. Viniendo de la comunidad local, Marijose tiene una fuerte comprensión de la cultura específica y especial de Sayulita. Transfiere esta comprensión multicultural y multilingüe al aula. Marijose recibió instrucción docente y licenciatura de la Universidad de Vizcaya en Puerto Vallarta. Así como un Diplomado en Innovación Educativa y Maestría en Formación Didáctica.

Martina Celano

Martina es una chica italiana, originaria de Policoro, región de Basilicata, al sur de Italia. Se graduó de la Universidad de Padua con una licenciatura en Lenguas, Literatura y Mediación en inglés y alemán. Durante sus tres años de licenciatura, Martina obtuvo una beca Erasmus en la Freie Universität de Berlín. Decidió unirse a Costa Verde International School para realizar sus prácticas de maestría en inglés y estudios angloamericanos en la Universidad de Roma La Sapienza. Eligió Costa Verde International School porque su entorno multicultural y su enfoque educativo la inspiraron a mejorar sus habilidades docentes; además, está entusiasmada por explorar y unirse a la comunidad de Sayulita.

Martina is an Italian girl, originally from Policoro,Basilicata region,south of Italy. She graduated from university of Padua with a bachelor degree in Languages,literatures and mediation skills in English and German; throughout the three years of bachelor Martina won a scholarship for the Erasmus program at Freie Universität in Berlin. She decided to join Costa Verde international school in order to complete her internship for Master degree in English and Anglo-American studies at university of Rome La Sapienza. She chose Costa Verde international school because the multicultural background and educational approach inspired her to improve her teaching skills; besides, Martina is excited to explore and join Sayulita community.

Osiris Andrea Álvarez Rodríguez

Originaria de Sayulita, Nayarit, lugar donde me lloré y vivo hasta el momento, estudié los niveles básicos en las escuelas de Sayulita y fue hasta la preparatoria que salí del pueblo para estudiar, culminé el bachillerato en Conalep 257 Peñita de Jaltemba, Nayarit, donde obtuve un título técnico en Turismo y un trayecto propedéutico en Ciencias Sociales. Posteriormente estudié la licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación en la Universidad Vizcaya de las Américas Pto. Vallarta. Inicié en CVIS como asistente de primer y segundo grado de la clase de español. Actualmente soy la maestra titular de español de los grados de tercero y cuarto, lo cual me llena de alegría. Mi meta siempre es impartir el conocimiento que puedo, si yo sé de un tema o tengo alguna habilidad, me gusta siempre compartirla con mis alumnos, compañeros y amigos, asimismo nunca dejo de aprender de ellos.

Originally from Sayulita, Nayarit, where I grew up and live to this day, I attended elementary school in Sayulita and only left town to study until high school. I completed high school at Conalep 257 Peñita de Jaltemba, Nayarit, where I earned an associate's degree in Tourism and a preparatory degree in Social Sciences. I later earned a bachelor's degree in Educational Sciences at the Universidad Vizcaya de las Américas in Puerto Vallarta. I started at CVIS as a first- and second-grade Spanish class assistant. I'm currently the lead Spanish teacher for third and fourth grades, which fills me with joy. My goal is always to impart whatever knowledge I can. If I know something or have a skill, I always like to share it with my students, colleagues, and friends. I also never stop learning from them.

Sidonie Bruin

My name is Siddy. I am from England and studied Primary Teaching at the University of Nottingham. I also hold a TEFL certificate for teaching English as a second language. Over the years, I have taught in schools in England, China, Thailand, and now Mexico. I love being a teacher and helping children grow academically, emotionally, and socially. I believe that learning should be engaging, creative, and fun. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time at the beach, drawing, being outdoors, and scuba diving. Me llamo Siddy. Soy de Inglaterra y estudié Enseñanza Primaria en la Universidad de Nottingham. También tengo un certificado TEFL para la enseñanza del inglés como segunda lengua. A lo largo de los años he trabajado en escuelas de Inglaterra, China, Tailandia y ahora en México. Me encanta ser maestra y ayudar a los niños a crecer académica, emocional y socialmente. Creo que el aprendizaje debe ser dinámico, creativo y divertido. Fuera de la escuela, disfruto pasar tiempo en la playa, dibujar, estar al aire libre y bucear.

Valeria Teresa Ortiz Padilla

Originaria de Guadalajara, Jalisco. Egresada de la Benemérita y Centenaria Escuela Normal de Jalisco de la Licenciatura en Educación Primaria. A lo largo de mi carrera, he participado en diversas formaciones y talleres que me han permitido actualizar mis conocimientos y metodologías. En 2019 comencé como guía en un centro de estudios de matemáticas lo que me dio la experiencia para facilitar el aprendizaje en un aula en los diferentes niveles de estudio. Apasionada en la enseñanza, siguiendo mi vocación docente y la conexión con los niños que inició desde temprana edad al impartir clases en cursos de verano en CODE Jalisco. Orgullosamente mexicana me gusta compartir con mis estudiantes el amor por mi cultura. Siguiendo la misión de CVIS me encanta explorar, estar en contacto con la naturaleza, cuidar el medio ambiente, promover hábitos saludables dentro y fuera del aula. Buscando equilibrar el bienestar físico, mental y emocional. Ofreciendo así una educación integral priorizando a los alumnos. Mi objetivo es seguir inspirando a mis estudiantes a ser aprendices de por vida y desarrollar no solo sus habilidades académicas , sino también su empatía y conciencia así como otros valores que promuevo con amor en el aula.

Originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco. Graduated from the Benemérita y Centenaria Escuela Normal de Jalisco with a Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education. Throughout my career, I have participated in various training courses and workshops that have allowed me to update my knowledge and methodologies. In 2019, I started as a guide at a mathematics study center, which gave me the experience to facilitate learning in a classroom at different levels of study. Passionate about teaching, following my teaching vocation and the connection with children that began at an early age when teaching summer courses at CODE Jalisco. Proudly Mexican, I like to share with my students the love for my culture. Following the CVIS mission, I love to explore, be in contact with nature, take care of the environment, promote healthy habits inside and outside the classroom. Seeking to balance physical, mental and emotional well-being. Thus offering a comprehensive education prioritizing students. My goal is to continue to inspire my students to be lifelong learners and develop not only their academic skills, but also their empathy and awareness as well as other values that I lovingly promote in the classroom.

Stephen Decker
English 5° & 6°

Stephen se une al personal de CVIS con gran entusiasmo por la educación, el entrenamiento y la relación con los jóvenes. Originario de San Agustín, Florida, Stephen se graduó de la Universidad de Jacksonville con una licenciatura en Historia. Stephen también tiene licencia de entrenador de fútbol USSF "B" y siente una verdadera pasión por el fútbol y por compartir sus conocimientos y pasión por él con los niños. Stephen y su esposa están muy emocionados de unirse a la comunidad de Sayulita. En su tiempo libre, disfruta del surf, el senderismo y el fútbol.

Stephen joins the CVIS staff with an excitement and enthusiasm for education, coaching and relating to young people. Originally from St. Augustine, Florida, Stephen graduated from Jacksonville University with a degree in History. Stephen also holds USSF 'B' soccer coaching license and has a real passion for the sport of soccer and sharing his knowledge and love of the game with children. Stephen and his wife are so excited to join the community here in Sayulita. In his free time he enjoys surfing, hiking and playing soccer.

Soy José García Gutiérrez, profesor comprometido con la formación integral de mis alumnos, impulsando valores, creatividad y pensamiento crítico a través de la enseñanza. Estudié en la institución UNE (Universidad de Especialidades) en la Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Educación. Empecé a trabajar en CVIS en el año 2023 como auxiliar educativo de primaria trabajando con el docente en problemas de rezago educativo. A partir del año 2024 comencé como profesor titular de secundaria, lo cual me enorgullece enormemente. Desde que egresé, mi responsabilidad como docente es transmitir conocimientos y desarrollar mis habilidades hacia los alumnos. Me considero una persona responsable y con un pensamiento exitoso, la conformidad no me identifica, siendo una persona que cubre sus días con pasatiempos creativos y que mantiene mi paz mental como el ejercicio, deporte y lectura. Mis habilidades de música, canto y dibujo son características que me representan y me distinguen como persona y profesional.

I am José García Gutiérrez, a teacher committed to the comprehensive education of my students, fostering values, creativity, and critical thinking through teaching. I studied at UNE (Universidad de Especialidades) for a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Sciences. I began working at CVIS in 2023 as an elementary school teaching assistant, supporting students with educational needs. In 2024 I became a full-time secondary school teacher, which makes me extremely proud. Since graduating, my responsibility as a teacher is to transmit knowledge and develop my skills to my students. I consider myself a responsible person with a successful mindset. I am not defined by conformity. I am someone who fills my days with creative hobbies and maintains my peace of mind through exercise, sports, and reading. My musical, singing, and drawing skills are characteristics that define me and distinguish me as a person and a professional.

Miguel Ángel Sánchez Vera

Miguel Alejandro Sánchez Vera (Mike), originario de Fresnillo, Zacatecas, donde estudié en la Universidad Politécnica de Zacatecas la carrera de Biotecnología. Posteriormente, me desempeñé como maestro en el Bachillerato Internacional de la UAF, desde el 2020 hasta el 2025, impartiendo las materias de Ecología, Geografía y Biología. Actualmente, en CVIS, imparto las materias de Geografía, Historia y Ciudadanía Global, que considero de suma importancia para el entendimiento de un mundo globalizado que cambia día a día. Mis pasatiempos favoritos son la lectura (especialmente el realismo mágico de Juan Rulfo), ver películas (de todo, excepto musicales), escuchar música y, además, disfruto de cualquier actividad física. Mis deportes favoritos son el fútbol y el tenis.

Miguel Alejandro Sánchez Vera (Mike), originally from Fresnillo, Zacatecas, where I studied Biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Zacatecas. Later on, I worked as a teacher at the UAF International Baccalaureate from 2020 to 2025, teaching Ecology, Geography, and Biology. Currently, at CVIS, I teach Geography, History, and Global Citizenship, which I consider essential subjects for understanding a globalized world that changes every single day. My favorite hobbies are reading (especially the magical realism of Juan Rulfo), watching movies (pretty much anything except musicals), listening to music, and I also enjoy any kind of physical activity. My favorite sports are soccer and tennis.

Annie Hopfensperger
English Language Arts Middle school.

Este es su primer año enseñando en Costa Verde; sin embargo, cuenta con 12 años de experiencia docente en Estados Unidos. Es originaria de Portland, Oregón, y se mudó a Sayulita al iniciar el ciclo escolar. Tiene una maestría en Enseñanza de Educación Especial y de Inglés como Segundo Idioma. Sus dos hijos, también asisten a Costa Verde, lo que hace de esta una experiencia nueva y emocionante para toda la familia. Le encanta el fútbol, el senderismo y la fotografía.

This is her first year teaching at Costa Verde; however, she has 12 years of teaching experience in the United States. Originally from Portland, Oregon, she just moved to Sayulita. She holds a Master’s Degree in Teaching Special Education and English as a Second Language. Her two sons, are also attending Costa Verde, making this a new and exciting experience for the whole family. She enjoys soccer, hiking, and photography. 

JUAN PABLO GARCÍA CASTILLÓN

Juan Pablo García Castillón, (JP). comenzó inicialmente en CVIS en 2015 al 2018, despues de 4 años regreso nuevamente como maestro de matemáticas y Ciencias en secundaria, me considero un educador, que me gustan cumplir mis metas y mis objetivos, respondable, educado y atento. Vivo en Puerto Vallarta y los últimos años estuve laborando como maestro formador de los futuros maestros en las universidades: America Latina, UNE, Vizcaya. Me gusta los deportes sobre todo el fut bol americano, mis pasatiempos son: leer y viajar con mi familia. Juan Pablo (JP) es egresado de la Universidad de Guadalajara en Ingeniero en Comunicaciones y Electronica, ademas es licenciado en Educación por la Universidad America Latina, tiene dos maestrías una en educación en la universidad UNIVA y la otra maestría en Calculo Diferencial e Integral por la Universidad de la Havana Cuba, Actualmente esta estudiando el segundo año del Doctorado en Educación, en la Universidad Santander.

Juan Pablo García Castillon, (JP). I initially started at CVIS in 2015 to 2018, after 4 years I returned again as a math and science teacher in secondary school, I consider myself an educator, who likes to fulfill my goals and objectives, responsive, polite and attentive. I live in Puerto Vallarta and in recent years I have been working as a teacher trainer for future teachers at universities: Latin America, UNE, Vizcaya. I like sports especially American football, my hobbies are: reading and traveling with my family. Juan Pablo (JP) is a graduate of the University of Guadalajara in Communications and Electronics Engineering, he also has a degree in Education from the Latin American University, he has two master's degrees, one in education from the UNIVA university and the other a master's degree in Differential and Integral Calculus from the University of Havana Cuba, is currently studying the second year of the Doctorate in Education, at the Santander University.
