EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND CLASSES
BREAKOUT SESSIONS: COOKING, DANCING, ARCHEALOGY AND MORE
All classes consist of grammar lessons with much of the time spent in “break out” sessions; learning outside the classroom where students interact with the culture directly.
Learners will investigate Mexican cooking, explore an Ethnographic overview of Mexico, and receive an introduction to Mexican archaeology.
Some of the breakout sessions and/or field trips planned are: Christmas in Mexico, Huichol culture and art, flan, mole poblano, false cognates, baile folklorico as well as salsa, cumbia, zapotec weavers, nature walks, use of traditional herbs, legends and myths, Mayan folklore, Thursday Market in La Peñita, real estate in México, the Altavista petroglyph site, jungle birds and animals and hidden sites of the state of Nayarit.
Please contact the Language Center to find out what is planned for the session you want to attend. Classes are available at 3 different levels and soon available for children.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
We also offer opportunities to do community service in Sayulita. For example, you can read in the school for children, volunteer with Sayulita recycling, help out at the animal clinic, etc. Every week is different, we can advise you of the various opportunities.
